Horrible Bear by Ame Dyckman

Horrible Bear! by Ame Dyckman

When a bear accidentally crushes a redhead girl’s kite, she loses her temper. “HORRIBLE BEAR!” she shouts as she stomps home. She tries to deal with her anger by reading and painting, but she is unable to forgive the bear. Meanwhile, at his house, Bear is put off by the girl’s accusation of wrongdoing and seeks revenge. It’s when he shows up on her doorstep, intent to show her what a real Horrible Bear looks like, that she realizes the squashed kite was an accident. Uttering simple words “I’m sorry” transforms Horrible Bear into Sweet Bear, showcasing a sweet story of accidents and forgiveness.  (Ages 5-10)
