Library Lessons: April 21-25, 2014

Nine more weeks.  Yes I can!

Kindergarten:  Create a Flipgrid video sharing your favorite rhyme from Jon Scieszka’s Truckery Rhymes.  Yes, the K’s did this on their own.  I demonstrated, then they went to work.  There was just one parent helper, and 85% of the class was successful.  This was a win in my book!

2nd grade:  Forgot to take the photo of the white board (PIYP Day was just too awesome!).  Final week of claim evidence reasoning with dog poems.  This all leads to next week, when students will create a class poem based on a photo of a dog.

3rd grade:  Reverso poetry from Marilyn Singer, with poems featuring common characters/stories from fairy tales and folklore.  Very successful poems featured Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Goldilocks.  Note to self: the students didn’t know the story of Rapunzel.  They thought the poem was about the movie “Tangled”.  Ack.
