Dog Days

Dog Days by Karen English

7 word review: Dog walking’s cool, unless it’s a Pomeranian.

Realistic Fiction, first-person narrative. First in a series (The Carver Chronicles). 128p, ©2013.  Share with ages 6-9.

Gavin’s recently moved and just started 3rd grade at a new school, which is never easy. Making new friends is hard enough without being seen around town walking a pink-bow-wearing fluffy Pomeranian – his Great-Aunt’s dog. And making friends is even harder when he’s not sure exactly who he can trust. A well-done realistic fiction novel for the younger crowd that portrays common kid issues – including overbearing siblings, bullying (both at school and in the neighborhood), stealing – in an honest light.   Recommended.
