A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd

7 word review: Felicity sees words.  For real.  Magic’s alive!

Fantasy.  Stand-alone novel.  Share with ages 8-12.

Felicity, her little sister, and her mom move around.  A lot.  But when they roll into the little town of Midnight Gulch, TN and move in with her Aunt Cleo, Felicity can’t help but get her hopes up.  Maybe this time her mom will put down roots.  And maybe this time Felicity can find a friend.  The town is supposed to be magical, after all…though the magic seems to have dried up.  Full of the best bits of storytelling – feuds, romance, duels, and curses – this story has been carefully crafted into something wonderful, like the famously magical Blackberry Sunrise ice cream made in Midnight Gulch.  Highly recommended.
